A Letter to Our Seniors, Class of 2020

To the Seniors, Class of 2020

Amidst the time in your life that is supposed to be full of SENIOR year stuff, I know it is emotionally heavy to know you are missing so much. Senior Class of 2020 will ALWAYS be remembered by not only you, the high schoolers, but the parents, the neighborhoods, the state and the country. Your graduation year is going down in the history books. You are the Class of 2020!

I know it doesn’t make things like missing prom, Spring sports, and memories in the hallways of the school any better, but it has brought the entire community of Bowling Green together to pray for you and thinking of you daily.

I am sorry you are missing the HIGHLIGHT of going out and graduating with a bang; BUT you are the most prayed for and loved right now in the history of graduating classes. You will be better leaders because of watching history unfold.

I’m going to ask you a question that was never asked to me when I was a senior or ever in my entire life.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

This question ignites curiosity and imagination, stirs desire and passion, and sparks thoughts that become a dream inside your heart.

I realized at my own graduation from college, just May 2019, no one asked me this question even in my life, so I never dreamed. See I was a kid that was a little risky and grew up in a rough home. I was actually raising myself at 14 years old on the streets. I was not expected to amount to much. So, no one dare ask me the question.

However, surviving those tough times, and realizing I was different, and it is okay; something happened all on its own and I decided to be better than my circumstances. I began to dream.

See – you have one life and it is your OWN to do whatever you want to with it! No one else can live it for you, and only you can do the wonderful things lined up just for you. You’ve learned how precious it is being in quarantine and living in this time of tragedy.

• What fires you up to want to act on it and change the world for the better?
• What makes your heart break when you think that something is not being done?
• What is it that YOU know you can do if you were brave enough?
• What do you see in the world that drives you to give of yourself to help others?

DREAM for a moment!

When you fuel your passion, you can do anything, because

where your heart is….

your feet will follow

your hands will move

and your voice will speak!

Ponder the question and follow your passion, this is where you will thrive and grow exponentially! I don’t want you to wait to dream like I did.

You were made for this, now the time has come, you are graduating high school SENIORS! You did it, you conquered it and now you can place your footprint in the world! You can do it!

When gold is purified, it is refined by fire, then skimmed to be left pure and priceless! You, our seniors have been through the process like no other class, being refined through this several months, becoming the most priceless, precious future innovators of all time.

You are our future, take it, master it, lead like no one else, celebrate often, learn from mistakes, laugh at yourself, lift others up, make allowances for no one is perfect, rise above your circumstance, hold tight to the dream, and be the best YOU can be!
